Welcome Reception

The Welcome Reception is scheduled to take place on the evening of Sunday, 1st July. Tickets are included in the registration fees but delegates must indicate their intention to attend.

Conference Dinner

The Conference Dinner is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 5th July at 7.45pm in O’Reilly Hall in UCD. Tickets are priced at €75 for full delegates and €50 for students. Tickets can be purchased on the online conference registration form.

Dublin City Tour

Monday 2nd July 09:00 – 13:00

Get an opportunity to see Dublin with your guided coach tour through the city. Guest will have an opportunity to visit St Patrick’s Cathedral. Built in honour of Ireland’s patron saint, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral stands adjacent to the famous well where tradition has it Saint Patrick baptized converts on his visit to Dublin.

You will then be welcomed at the Old Library and the Book of Kells Exhibition – a “must see” on the itinerary of all visitors to Dublin. Located in the heart of Dublin City, a walk through the cobbled stones of Trinity College Dublin will bring visitors back to the 18th century, when the magnificent Old Library building was constructed. Inside is housed the Book of Kells – a 9th-century gospel manuscript famous throughout the world.

Cost: €40 – this tour is included in the accompanying person’s registration but is available to book for all delegates.

Glendalough & Powerscourt House and Gardens

Tuesday 3rd July 13:00 – 18:00

 

Guests on this tour will be visiting Glendalough valley, nestled in the Wicklow mountains. You will get an opportunity to see the world famous monastic site with St Kevin’s Round Tower. Enjoy the green scenery and surrounds of the countryside. From the gentle wilds of Glendalough, guests are then taken to the beautiful grounds of Powerscourt House & Gardens. Powerscourt is one of Europe’s great treasures and Ireland’s most famous House & Gardens. Gracing the Wicklow Mountains the beautiful manicured gardens and hidden treasures are awaiting for you to explore.

Old Jameson Distillery and the Guinness Storehouse

 Visit the Old Jameson Distillery located in the heart of Dublin. A visit to the distillery is so much more than just a tour, it is an exciting and engaging experience, guaranteed to enlighten and entertain any visitor. Visitors will get the opportunity to re-live the story of John Jameson & Son through the history, the atmosphere and above all the taste with a whiskey sample. The story of Irish Whiskey is recreated with the help of old distillery artefacts such as calico bags for barley samples, clogs worn by the workers, the tools used for making the wooden casks, even a list of nick-names of Dublin whiskey workers.

Guinness Storehouse is the number one visitor attraction in Dublin. It is a must see visit in any tour of Dublin and is located in the heart of the Guinness brewery at St. James’s Gate. Housed in an old fermentation plant, this seven storey visitor experience tells the history of the making of this world famous beer. It is a dramatic story that begins 250 years ago and ends in Gravity Bar where visitors receive a complimentary pint of Guinness while relaxing and enjoying spectacular views over Dublin.

The adventure begins the moment you walk through the door and into the building’s giant, pint-shaped heart of glass. As you wander up through Guinness Storehouse, you’ll discover what goes into making the “Black Stuff” – the ingredients, the process, the passion. You’ll learn about Arthur Guinness and find out how the drink that carries his name has been transported around the world. You’ll see how Guinness has been advertised over the years and visit Guinness, at Home and Abroad.

Newgrange

Friday 6th July 09:00 – 16:00

Take a drive through the historic Boyne Valley- a listed world heritage site. Discover the many famous landmarks as far back as the Neolithic Period which are dotted across this beautiful landscape. A visit to the ancient site at Newgrange is included, a magnificent example of prehistoric craftsmanship. 5000 years old, this building is a thousand years older than the Pyramids.
